Our first Airbnb ever… Tried it in Greece

The second stop on our secret Birthday travel was Athens, Greece.  So beautiful and the people are just amazing!

The first thing on our “to do” list was to go to the local market and stock up…..again, we had the birthday/champagne greeting but needed some supplies.  The cute owner of the little local store spoke very little English – we spoke zero Greek.  She was SO cute….she literally ran all over the market pantomiming each thing on our list for us and running it back to the front register.

We have a friend who had enjoyed this villa with his family and, since we were traveling and needed more room, we decided to give it a try.  We are normally hotel/resort people so it was exciting.

First, the villa was behind a couple of gates so no worries about security or people walking up to the property.  Very private.

This was the view from all levels of the villa.  I will add the link below in case you want to explore later:)

The home is 6 or 7 bedrooms.  7 bathrooms spread out over 3 floors of living space and also boasts a gym/ping pong table/entry to pool (another shower and powder room and changing room).  The walkout area to the pool has a full fridge for any sort of party you may be considering and lots of towels and noodles.

The beach is below and the Beach Club with private cabanas is within walking distance.

One thing we noticed during our stay is that the villa is a bit isolated unless you rent a car and drive in…we did all of our running around with a slick APP called FREENOW.  It’s Greece’s answer to UBER and, we are told, it’s less pricey.  The drivers were fabulous and always polite.  One thing that caused concern even with our Car Service Vans is that the road up to this property is extremely steep.

Beware the “Guard Turtle” who has lived under the palm tree for more than 20 years.  Her name is Caroline and she loves Cucumbers and melon.  Very fierce – don’t say I didn’t warn you.  She probably gained 20 pounds during our visit….we could not get enough of feeding her!

The home is large and roomy.   Agape, the family caregiver is fun and friendly.  And, it you miss ordering Pizza, she will call the Pizza place for you and order everything.

The only big challenge is while the bathrooms upstairs had all be remodeled, we had some trouble getting hot water to the master en suite.  But, since you have 7 to choose from, not the biggest deal.

The home also has 2 LG washers for your convenience but, no dryers.  There are two large drying racks …. not great for all of the swimming and laundry one has on vacation.

Overall, it was amazing and a great time was had by all.  I think our honest opinion is that we are probably not Airbnb people…absolutely NO reflection of this fabulous villa.

If Greece is on your radar this year or next – and, you have a group or large family to take…this is perfect.

xoxo, Rosanna
